Must I adjust the dynamo or a more powerful battery?
No, the VebaBox is designed in a way that even with the biggest model (appr. 4000 Litres) power consumption is so less that it can be installed without alterations on dynamo or start-battery( Veba is able to supply bigger models if required, but in that case an adjustment of the dynamo has to be discussed)
How fast is a VebaBox on the right temperature?
Each (cool) VebaBox has been tested on the cooling-curve and has to reach the right temperature within 20 minutes before it has passed our approval.
Is the VebaBox easy to clean?
Yes, the VebaBox is made of synthetic materials which can be cleaned with normal cleansing agents.
Can it be provided with a side-door?
Yes it can. We ask you by ordering to indicate whether a left or right side-door has to be installed. Occasionally we are able to install 2 side-doors if required. A supplementary price is used per side-door. Speaking about left (side) we mean the lefthandside seen from the rear of the vehicle.
What is the period of time on cooling when the vehicle is parking?
This is a question which is not to be answered on an exact time-base. It depends on the sort of VebaBox (cooling or freezing), the size, the ambient-temperature and most difficult of all, the status (battery-age) and what time it takes for the starting motor to get the engine started. One could say generally speaking that normally it will be no problem at all to continue the cooling for half an hour, provided that the starting-battery is in a reasonably good shape. If you want the VebaBox to go on cooling when the engine is turned off ( a unique aspect of the VebaBox compared to a cooling-van) we advise in that case to install our Battery Power Pack. This is a quality-gel-battery built in a cabinet which can be connected easily with plugs. So it is a very easy moveable solution which prevents of Installing a 2nd battery. Together with the electric set ( incl. separation-relais) a system is then created where the Battery Power Pack charges automatically when the vehicle is driving and automatically discharges when the vehicle has come to a standstill.
What is the period of time on cooling with the Battery Power Pack when the vehicle is parking?
This can be calculated easily with the next data: For each type VebaBox on the site is a running time indicated with a defined ambient-temperature( a box will get started when cooling is needed and switches off when temperature has been reached. This period is called a running time) If for example at a defined ambient temperature the running time is 50% and the max. power need of the defined VebaBox is for example 40A( Is indicated with the information’s for the Box on this site) the power need of the Box will be an average of 40Ax50% is a 20A average. A standard Battery Power Pack is 70 A/h. In general we advise that this has to be emptied for 50%. This means that you need 35A for use. It also means an average power need of 20A and a capacity of 35 A/h. So with this the Box can go on without any problem for 1 hour and 45 minutes
How fast charges the Battery Power Pack during driving?
We strike an average that the car should drive twice as much instead of parking to keep the Battery Power Pack fully charged. So for example 2 hours drive and 1 hour parking. If you make short trips and park relatively for a long period, we will supply for these situations a quick charging system. This is a special developed system by Veba so you are able to park twice as much instead of driving ( so just the opposite) Ask for this at your reseller’s or Veba
Can I purchase a VebaBox with shelves?
Yes, any carbody designer of reseller can install shelves and other accessories. If required Veba can take care of this.
Is there a possibility to take out the VebaBox with a trolley out of the vehicle?
Yes, that is possible. Several of our clients (car body designers) have brought out some devices for these purposes. Ask for it at your reseller’s. If required Veba can take care in providing a VebaBox trolley.
Is it possible that a VebaBox can cause a starting problem?
No,not with the use of the electric set. In the set is a separating relays ( depending on tension) which switches the VebaBox automatically on or off when you put the engine of the car on or off. All the VebaBoxes are designed in a way that the power intake during driving is completely capable in charging the battery sufficiently.
Is it possible that the VebaBox cools without damaging the dynamo or battery?
Yes, all the VebaBoxes are designed in a way that the power consumption by all commercial vehicles available in the Netherlands are without problems for dynamo and battery.
Are there possibilities for temperature registration?
Yes, Veba or your commercial vehicle reseller installs and calibrates all known brands equipments on temperature registrations. If required Veba can supply a homemade low priced graphic temperature-printer, built in the Box or in a separate cabinet to be placed in the drivers’ cabin.
Can I put several VebaBoxes in 1 vehicle?
Yes that is possible. It has to be considered that the Total Volume not exceeds 4000 Litres, so this can be done without any adjustments on dynamo or battery.
Is it possible purchasing a VebaBox with several temperatures?
Yes that is possible. We ask you to contact us or one of our resellers. We are pleased to show you some examples.
Is it possible that a VebaBox freeze is able to cool?
Yes that is possible, but a cool-VebaBox cannot freeze. A freeze VebaBox can be adjusted between -18°C en +10°C and a Cool VebaBox can be adjusted between 0°C en +10°C.
And if my VebaBox is defect?
The advantage of a VebaBox compared with a cooling van is that the former can be installed and be serviced by most of the commercial car resellers and designers. A STEK recognition is not necessary because the cooling-units for example can be demounted ( without the need of pipes, gasses etc.) With over 100 resellers in the Netherlands you won’t have to drive very far for a service point. Next to this is the unique advantage that this will be composed out of several cooling-units. The VebaBox remains on temperature even when one or 2 cooling-engines have failed. That is why the need is never urgent. Another important difference with a cooling van is that the service (for example the replacement of a cooling unit) will not take more than 20 minutes up to half an hour. That’s why the service can be done cheap and fast. See also service VebaBox.
Can I see the VebaBox models and possibilities somewhere?
Yes, that’s possible. We ask you to contact one of our reseller’s or at VebaBox Nederland. We will invite you gladly in our factory for a guided tour where we are working on an average from 30 up to 50 VebaBoxes.
Can I lease the VebaBox?
Yes it is possible. 75% of our sales are done by lease-companies. In general as an accessory the VebaBox will be leased with the car. In most cases after the contract has expired the VebaBox will be yours. VebaBox has its own Lease-company which takes care only of equipment lease. This means that the need of a car is not necessary. A VebaBox lease is already possible up from 80 to 100 Euros a month. Ask for a lease proposal.

What is the lifetime of a VebaBox?
The First VebaBoxes were manufactured in 1988 en have had their 5th replacement service in 2009. So these can “live” for a few periods even more. The duration of life is of course a matter of use and depends in how you are using the Box, as a guideline you may use the given information. For information’s or references of these first users please contact Veba sales.
Can I install the VebaBox myself?
Yes, the way a VebaBox is designed and manufactured by using the electro installation kit and frame simply with the help of a screwdriver and a pair of tongs. You can do this with minimal technical know how.
Is it better to have the VebaBox installed by a qualified installer?
In the meantime there are over a 100 installers who have experience with the VebaBox. They are able to mount the Box fast and safe. The advantage is that you can rely on the installer( in your region) in cases of problems.
Do I need the frame and electro-installation package?
No not necessarily. However for the following reason we do advise it: 1. To guarantee a simple and controlled set up ( in time and materials)(no unexpectedly surprises or extra materials needed) 2. By using the electro set a correct functioning is guaranteed because wiring has the right thickness and is provided with tension depended separating relays, so the start battery never can be emptied.3. Securing the VebaBox is therefore simple and getting it out quickly will be provided by just unscrewing the 2 wingnuts.4. The VebaBox is secured by the special frame in driving direction. That is why the safety of the chauffeur in case of a collision is optimal.
How much time does it take to set up a VebaBox?
The period for a set up is accurately determined by using the installation frame and the electro set. This is 6 to 8 hrs. With no routine and 4 to 6 hrs. with routine.
Do I have to place a roof-fan?
Due to the high output of the VebaBox compared with a cooling van the heat-emission in the cargo space is minimal. It is for sure that the temperature in the cargo space will not exceed more than 5 degrees when the VebaBox is cooling on full power. In general this will be no problem, because it is known that the VebaBox functions without any problem up to 40°C/+45°C. However by heavy solar radiation the temperature in the car can go up intensively especially when the car is parked in the sun and completely shut( cooling on) The temperature in practice during the trip will not raise too much because of the (natural) ventilation in the cargo space. We manage also the next safe fixed rule : Only if the VebaBox has to keep on cooling when the car holds (one of the advantages compared to a cooling van) recommending a thermostatic switched** roof-fan is most likely. A roof-fan will be purchased together with the battery power pack. The power for the VebaBox while parking comes then from the battery power pack ( to prevent at long stay a starting problem) The roof-fan will then be connected at the battery power pack to ensure without any problem ( when the engine is turned off) the functioning of the roof-fan. **Thermostatically switched roof-fan means that this will be switched on/off by a thermostate as the temperature rise in the cargo space. What kind of approvals are there on the VebaBox?
The VebaBox is manufactured at the ISO 9001-2000 standard. If required RVA calibration-certificats, HACCP and ATP certificates and CE certificates are available.
