Company info/ History

“Temperature Regulated Devices” is the slogan which is known in the market since 1987 for the development and production of specific temperature regulated devices. Peter van den Hoogen has started 23 years ago with the development and production of devices which had a relationship with temperature and were not available standard wise in the market. In those days, he worked just by himself in a bigger Veba company. That company developed and produced temperature controls for the airco-industry, car-industry and central heating industry, at that time a.o. for ATAG, Honeywell but also for example Mercedes Benz. The smallest (1-3 men) department of Peter van den Hoogen developed in those days specific (temperature related) solutions for storage and transport of e.g. blood, medicines, genetic material, and dialysis liquids. Peter van den Hoogen bought the name of Veba and shares and has gone working independently with one goal in making the name famous in the medical and laboratory field. The first years were the base for big developments! Peter van den Hoogen established business connections with a.o. Heineken which resulted in an assignment for the cooperation of the development of the Beertender. The cooling and temperature regulation is obviously signed by Peter van den Hoogen. Right afterwards assignments came by from a.o. ministry of defense from the Netherlands, Belgium, France and India for the development and production of military cooling boxes for medicines. Customers got in from the space industry (a.o. NASA and ESA) for the development of specific cooling systems and temperature regulations, but also special clients like the Dutch Rijksmuseum.

Started as a small one-man business in 1987 within the Veba company and expanded in 23 years in a company worldwide known in the medical and laboratory field. A brand which has made Peter van den Hoogen worldwide on top due to a great knowledge of thermodynamics, combined with electronics. Peter van den Hoogen accredits the reliability and empathy of the customer due to success. This reliability and empathy of the customer has been transferred to this day towards the staff and all the personnel who are employed in the companies of Peter van den Hoogen.

VebaBox

There were a lot of requests coming from the medical and laboratory world around 1996/97 for improving the traditional cooling van. Cooling van’s were less applicable for this high standard transport. These van’s  had a big temperature fluctuation and could not continuing cooling whilst parking. Further on the reliability was not good enough, in a way that if the cooling dropped out, the cargo got unusable.
Veba’s engineers developed after this immediately (1998) a new cooling engine which functions on low voltage (12/24V) and produced an extremely high cooling power. This one could ( on battery-tension) keep on cooling whilst the car was parking and was far better to regulate than the until then used cooling engines.
Through this invention the first big cooling boxes were developed and put into the market successfully. Peter van den Hoogen pointed out that the limit of 4000 Litres could be used, so that there were no special adjustments to be done on the Electronics of the common commercial vehicle.

Without noticing it a trend had been set

In the Netherlands were from 1997 until 2007 no fewer than 300 traditional cooling vehicles in the laboratory and medical field replaced by the big 12V cooling box of Veba. The developer and entrepreneur Peter van den Hoogen was thinking about the future of the big cooling box. In the meantime there were requests coming from catering-companies, bakers, butchers, couriers etc.  so new markets could be explored.
The decision was made: we are going to conquer the world wit the “VebaBox” so there was an engagement made for the European Road Transport Show ( Europe’s biggest exhibition in the commercial vehicle field) which took place in October of the year in Amsterdam. The name of “VebaBox”was set and “the field open” At the presentation the Press was invited of course and yet in that fall over 11 Television presentations were done about the new VebaBox.

In the meantime at the end of 2009, 2 years after the introduction at the European Transport Road Show, the VebaBox has become a million’s business and lead towards a market share of over 80% in the production of cooling for small commercial vehicles. With an international sales team, reselling companies were being erected in a.o. Belgium, Germany, France, England, Greece, Slovakia and Portugal. For these  countries Veba will be owner of 51 up to 100%.
A production-company has been set up furthermore in Slovakia for the VebaBox with a capacity of 40 Boxes a week.
In the meantime agreements have been made with car-importers and manufacturers like Renault and VW/PON for exclusive VebaBox models and the distribution of the VebaBox.

The power and success of the VebaBox are still in the fundamental ideas of founder Peter van den Hoogen which will instruct the principles of reliability and imagination towards the customer to the most profound level of the organization.

He started as a developer and entrepreneur for “Temperature regulated devices”  it turned out 23 years later as a company of global stature.
A “boyish dream” became reality.
